NEW: Senior Digital Designer

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Digital Designer to lead the creation of groundbreaking personalised video services. You’ll be joining one of the fastest growing and most innovative online video companies in the world, based at our offices in Ipswich, Suffolk. If you have a passion for digital media with the ability to communicate and realise your ideas, then this is the role for you!

You’ll work closely with our creative and technical teams to produce personalized interactive video experiences, pushing both creative and technical boundaries. You’ll obviously have a good grasp of UX design and be proficient in using the tools required to make clever and beautiful ideas come to life on the internet.

As an experienced Designer, you’ll be used to working directly with clients, with an ability to understand their values and branding. This is a hands-on role where you will be comfortable with all elements of the design and creative execution of a project, as well as having the skills and experience to manage production partners, freelance designers and producers. You’ll be able to communicate the creative and technical possibilities of personalized video in a way that inspires and excites!

    Working with our team, clients and partners you’ll:

  • Be involved in the pre-production, production and post-production phases of project creation.
  • Develop concepts and storyboard new video projects.
  • Edit new video projects, or adapt client/external agency supplied video.
  • Design landing pages for interactive video campaigns.
  • Design email templates.
  • Learn how to use our proprietary web-based personalized video platform to create dynamic interactive video projects.
    Responsibilities:

  • You’ll have creative project ownership. Working closely with the Project Managers and the extended team, you’ll need to be able to define and capture customer requirements, understand overall project complexities and execute deliverables against the project plan.
  • You’ll lead and advise other designers, clients and external creative teams.
  • You’ll work with the Creative Director to ensure that the creative execution meets the client expectations, is within our platform capabilities and delivers on overall project requirements / objectives.
    Requirements, you’ll have:

  • Proven experience in an interactive environment with a portfolio to demonstrate your skills.
  • A passion for design and the ability to relay this passion to colleagues and clients.
  • The ability to develop and execute outstanding interactive design concepts.
  • Recent experience in using Adobe After Effects to create video
  • Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage and develop client relationships.
    Beneficial, but not required skills:

  • Experience in a Scripting language such as ActionScript / JavaScript.
  • Audio processing experience, preferably having used Adobe Audition.
  • Knowledge of expressions, scripting, or automation within After Effects.
    You will be:

  • A team player, easy to talk to, happy to muck in, ambitious, passionate and honest.

Starting salary
£30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience.

The successful candidate will join our growing team based at Adastral Park near Ipswich (home of BT Research Labs) and help develop some of the most advanced video service applications based on our proven proprietary technology. This is an amazing opportunity to join an online video start-up that is transforming the industry.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent software development experience with web applications including HTML5 video technology
  • Experience delivering commercial large-scale software solutions.
  • Advanced JavaScript and JQuery software development experience
  • Extensive LAMP platform experience including PHP and MySQL software development
  • Experience working in an agile environment utilising TDD.

Desirable skills:

  • Experienced with HLS, HDS and / or MPEG-DASH and other HTTP video rate adaptation technologies
  • Expert understanding of HTML5 media playback features and device compatibility issues including feature detection, supported video formats and 3rd party library code and applications.
  • Extensive hands-on experience scripting FFMPEG filters to generate videos
  • Experience designing fault tolerant infrastructure using AWS EC2 and other AWS services.
