Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Hero Powercards

Objectives

The WTA Tour, sponsored by Sony Ericsson, launched a global campaign that attracts younger, more casual tennis fans - building awareness of, and traffic to, the Tour's re-launched website www.sonyericssonwtatour.com.

The WTA Tour was looking for engaging digital content for new fans and current web visitors - and found it in the RTC online video platform.

RTC has contributed to the 'Looking for a hero?' campaign through the creation of an online video game that combines the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour’s rich assets – match highlight video and performance statistics -- to entertain fans and to educate the online community about women tennis stars.

The RTC solution

A game of skill, chance, tactics and tennis!

Hero Powercards blends the world of online gaming with Women's superstar tennis. Play with and against your favorite tennis stars and learn about the players that make the WTA Tour great.

Be tactical, reckless, cautious or aggressive - and use your knowledge of the game to defeat your opponents and rise to the top. Hero Powercards combines proven game play mechanics to create a compelling, relevant and engaging game of virtual tennis, raising the profile of women's tennis and broadening the reach outside of the core WTA Tour fan base -- appealing to gamers and sports fans alike.

Its use of real-time video content of players and real world statistics keeps the game engaging and current. Tennis fans can also share their interest by challenging their friends through Facebook. Great reasons to return to the website frequently.
